Толстанов Олександр Костянтинович

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Chairman of the Academic Council of the Shupyk National Health University of Ukraine, President of the Association of Family Medicine of Ukraine. Oleksandr Tolstanov's professional experience combines practical medicine, management of health care institutions, public administration and medical education.He worked as a surgeon, headed medical institutions and the Health Department of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration. In 2011–2014, he held the position of Deputy Minister ofHealth of Ukraine. Participated in the preparation and implementation of systemic changes in the field of primary and emergency medical care, modernization of health care management and improvement of the regulatory framework.He has experience in European projects on reforming the Ukrainian health care system. Scientific and professional interests include: management of the health care system; development of primary health care; postgraduate medical education and continuous professional development; professional compliance and certification of medical workers; quality and safety of medical care; training of managerial and professional leaders in medicine.Author and co-author of scientific publications, textbooks and intellectual property. Honored Doctor of Ukraine, laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after Borys Paton, was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree and Danylo Halytskyi.
